a few yrs ago i found a set of ibm instruction notebooks books that each fit in a thick cardboard sleeve (to i guess help them stay standing)
& bought all 5 for .25c --
i painted each one a different color representitive of a season --white ended up being used for weddings/baby/misc.)
i removed the pages of instructions & kept in the pages that were meant for NOTES & proceeded to assemble each one into an idea/small supplies/notions book --something along the line of the KLUTZ books
there were some plastic sleeves included & to hold my notions i punched holes in the top of zip lock bags to fit over the notebook rings--into which i placed my little collections of ribbon/little patters/embellishments & added recipie size ideas from magazines that i liked -- & also 3x5" pics of decorating ideas...whether it be a table arrangement or window treatment --whatever fit the 3x5 -- even if it meant several 3x5's for one magazine decorating page -- i got what i wanted & best of all i can add to it as i wish to & if later i run out of room i can store the 3x5's in a recipie box --
face it - there is a lot of waste in a magazine - if you sit with one & pull out all the ads & from there - reduce whats left by tracing around a 3x5 & cutting out only what appeals to you -- there really is not alot - especially $3.50 -$5.75 worth !
i always got mine 2nd hand from my mom & she often got them at rummage sales
--only occassionally i would splurge & buy a new one -
but given the fact that after you take out all the pages of ads you have a small pile of worth :)
