Christmas Charities?

My 12 yo would really like a movable basketball hoop and a new basketball for Christmas. I'm disabled and can't provide Christmas. Where can I find help?

So sorry you are having challenges this year.

I have a couple suggestions...one is to place a wanted ad in a site like Craig's List or Next Door and see is someone has these items they can give you or charge very little for you to have.

Second suggestions is to call places that sell them new...like if Dicks Sporting Goods sells them, and ask if they know of programs to obtain free or low cost items. Ask to speak to a manager or district manager, not just someone who works the counter.

There are often programs that these big companies sponsor that could help you!

Also talk to the sports coach at your local high school or middle school and see if he/she has any ideas. They may know of something like my school district has which is an annual auction of all kinds of stuff and who knows you may find these exact items there!

Prayers for you and your punkin girlie that you have a wonderful Christmas!

Movable basketball hoops are quite expensive but you may be able to find someone that has one they no longer want. That said; you will need suitable transportation to pick this item up and a place to store it until you are ready for gits to your son. These are usually very heavy and some may not dismantle easily. Be sure you have a safe place to station this so your son will not be in danger of motorists or that you will not be placing motorists in danger when trying to avoid the stand and players.

I would suggest you check free items on your local sites like Craigslist, Freecycle, Nextdoor.org, and any other listing sites that are in your area.
If you do not find what you are looking for then you can place "wanted" ads on these sites and maybe someone will have what you want.
Nextdoor.org is a very good site as any item will be within your area and will be less problems with delivery.

You can try some stores and such but both of these are kinda expensive items and stores may not be inclined to part with them so easily but never give up when it is something you really want.

If you are really in need for Christmas items for a child you can always check with the Shriner's as they are very about things like this.
You can also check with your local police station to see if they have a sheriff's "help a child" program as many cities do this every year.

Sometimes fire departments have programs also so check all of these but do it soon.
