It's too late to sign up for the angel tree. Any suggestions for other legitimate charities? I've never done this before, but I'm extremely broke this season and don't want my two sons to have to go without. They are 11 and 13 years old. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I would call around to local churches and ask them if they might "adopt" your children which means the church provides them with gifts. Bless you and have a peaceful Christmas.
I'm a teacher. My school always collects for students in need. Each teacher who chooses to get involved gets one child. That child has a wish list.
So do u no of any good churchs in the Guilford county area I can call

Hi my name is Leslie I live in Dallas Texas my job closed their doors Dec 2 and I'm broke this holiday season I need help for my 6 grandbabies ages 11 girl, 10 boy, 9 girl, 5 boy, 2 boy , and newest Grandbaby 11 months boy, if I can get help this last minute I Will be grateful.
Please consider that first and foremost your children's (and yours) good health is the most important - even at Christmas - so try to make sure that you have fixings for a healthy holiday meal.
I have always believed that Christmas time is a great holiday for families, friends, neighbors and that may mean inviting or visiting someone that does not have near-by families or friends. Holidays can sometimes be very sad and lonely for someone living alone.
Sorry to get off the "path".
I recently made up a list of web sites for my church that offer information for families in need at Christmas.
There is a wealth of information on these sites but you will have to do the investigating yourself as charities are almost always tied to your own local community.
I hope you will check out your local churches as most have some sort of program to help children/families at Christmas.
Please do not ever feel embarrassed that you are asking for assistance for the needs of yourself and your family.
check any of these - hope you find what you are looking for:

I signed up last minute also and was able to request toys for my 9 yr old daughter at Toys for tots online.. Try it out, don't know their deadline but I signed up at end of November & received my confirmation letter of approval by email with date and time to go pickup gifts.
Call the Salvation Army. Also St. Vincent DePaul, if there is one in your area. Also "Shop with a Cop" does a good service by shopping with kids and buying items for them.
In our town the people in the town hall office take names of people in need of some help. And the American Legion does a lot in helping out to.
