Hi everyone, this Saturday evening (12/13) we are having an adult (don't take that wrong!) Christmas dance party and social. I know there are lots of fun games out there like the letters to Christmas songs all mixed up or music notes only on a sheet and figure out the songs, etc. You get the idea. Does anybody have things like this or other ideas to play for a good clean adult party. Thanks.

We play a fun game to get everyone to know each other. We put a post it note with something Christmasy on it (reindeer, Jesus, snowman, etc.) and then you make the person guess all night what it is by asking questions of others. We did this at a hoedown recently at church and it was great. (12/10/2004)

We just had an office party this last weekend and I came up with the games.
A wonderful game we did was to divide into teams and each team gets "raw materials" like red tissue paper, duct tape, white batting, and black construction paper, and no scissors. Then each team dresses one of their own as Santa, in 5 minutes or so. And you award a prize for the best Santa. It is a hoot. My group of co-workers and spouses loved it.
Another one we did is a balloon stomp. Each person participating blows up a balloon, and ties it to their ankle with a piece of string or yarn. Then everyone tries to break the other peoples' balloons, but guard their own. The last person with a whole balloon wins.
The "I have never game", divide into groups and give each person some tokens or coins or candies. Each person takes turns stating something they have never done, like "I have never had a speeding ticket". Then everyone in the group who "has" done that has to give the speaker one of their tokens. The last person with tokens wins. We used quarters, but you could use pennies or candy or toothpicks. It is very fun, and you can hear some outrageous claims.
A white elephant gift exchange is lots of fun.

We saw a fun thing at a recent concert. They had people from the audience come down to act out "The Twelve Days of Christmas" things like milking, dancing, swimming, laying, etc. were acted out. It was a hoot. Just figure out ahead what action should be done and go for it. (12/10/2004)

Try this site for interesting "paper and pencil" games. I have used the Word Search puzzles
for church and for family because you can use
your own words and they make up the puzzle
for you free. Check the "pull down" menu
in the middle of the page to find the different
kinds of puzzles available. (12/10/2004)

I saw this game played in one of the "Christmas Carol" movies. The leader of the game would start off, "The minister's cat is "..... cat" and the next person in the circle would have to come up with an adjective describing the cat that started with the letter A (for instance "an adventurous cat"). Then the next person in the circle would have to come up with an adjective starting with A.
It moves around through the players, moving through the alphabet, eliminating players who aren't fast enough and the game is over when one player is left who is the winner. (It could be changed to more of a Christmas theme by using sentences such as "Santa's beard is a _______ beard" or maybe "The neighbors' Christmas decorations are ______________ decorations.") It looks like a fun, fast-moving game to play. Happy Holidays. (12/10/2004)

A great Christmas game to play when having a houseful of guests is Christmas Charades. This game is the same type of charade game usually played, but you substitute regular things with Christmas things. For example you could use Santa, or tree, but for something more difficult and fun, do lights or cookies. I'm sure that will really make them think. (12/04/2006)
