I am 18 years old and I live with my 22 year old boyfriend. Christmas is coming up and I really don't know what to get him. He likes things that cost a good amount of money and I don't make that much. What should I get him the he would love, but would not run me out of money either?

Stick with what is affordable for you. If your boyfriend shows appreciation for it; lucky you. If not, then don't sweat it, because you've done your best with what you have and that's all anybody should expect.
You didn't mention things he likes, so it's hard to say what you can get him concerning his interests. I'm sure there's things out there that's affordable and right up his alley. (10/30/2009)

CDs, DVDs, sweatshirts, cologne, bodywash, subscription to one of his favorite magazines. There are lots of things that don't cost a whole lot. (10/30/2009)

I think you get him what you can. If it comes from your heart, that's the most important thing. If he doesn't care for it because it wasn't expensive enough, you might want to think hard about being with him. Plenty of things have value that don't cost a lot of money.
Best of luck. I hope you find the perfect gift for him, and that he loves it.

It doesn't have to be a material present and if he truly loves you more than expensive items he won't expect a material gift and if he does expect it then it's time to kick him to the curb (I say this from experience).
How about simply buying a nice Christmas card to give to him on Christmas Eve (or a day or two before) when he comes in the door. Hand it to him with a big bow tied around your waist and peaceful Christmas music playing in the background and a candlelight table set for a homecooked meal ready to serve?
To me anyway, the romantic gesture and quality time spent together is worth far more than an item. (11/04/2009)

Well, any guy would love a CD so why not make a CD of your top 20 songs or put songs together that both of you listen to all the time. That way you can share the CD in your car and his car make double copies of it. Then on top of that you could get him a small MP3 player and he can download the songs onto it. (11/04/2009)

I wholeheartedly agree with everyone who said if he doesn't appreciate something because it didn't cost a fortune, you don't need him. However, I also know it's hard to say goodbye to someone you care deeply for.
My suggestion is this: The first year my first hubby and I were married, I literally didn't have a penny for gifts. I still wanted to let him know he was special, though. Instead of racking my brain for a material gift, I made up a little "coupon book". Coupons were good for things like hugs and back rubs, etc. You know what your man likes, so feel free to use your imagination.
And, an early Merry Christmas. (11/04/2009)
