Making a Snow Pine Christmas Card

finished cardCelebrate Christmas with this beautiful snow pine card. The card uses the traditional colors associated with the festive season. This card is sure to make the recipient feel special for receiving such a thoughtful card. You can even make a few of these cards for colleagues and neighbors alike. Have fun!

Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: one card

Supplies:

  • 8.2 x 6 inch light green shimmer cardstock
  • 5.6 x 3.7 inch red cardstock
  • A5 sized white textured cardstock
  • one silver star
  • 0.5 in wide self-adhesive silver fabric tape
  • nine 8mm clear self-adhesive flat-sided flower rhinestones
  • pencil
  • ruler
  • standard scissors
  • quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)

Steps:

  1. Score the light green cardstock to create a card sized 6" x 4.1". With the fold at the left, centre and glue the red cardstock to the front of the card.

  3. Use the ruler to measure strips with a width of 1.2" on the white cardstock.
  4. Cut seven strips with the following lengths: 3.3"; 3.0"; 2.5"; 2.2"; 1.7"; 1.4" and 1.1".
  5. Cut small incisions, two thirds into each strip, to simulate the pine-tree leaves.

  7. Cut the top part of the 1.1" piece into a triangular shape.

  9. Starting with the biggest strip, glue the seven strips to the front of the card to simulate a pine-tree. Glue the second strip directly above the first one, then the third, then the fourth, etc., until the "tree" has been completed.

  11. Add the star to the top of the tree.

  13. Add a strip of fabric tape to the top of the card and cut off any protruding edges. Use another piece of fabric tape to add a tree branch.

  15. Glue the nine flower rhinestones in random places on the card.
