Metallic Garland Beads As Candy Canes

Silver Post Medal for All Time! 398 Posts

I was out and about, and I saw this beautiful Christmas tree. It had sections of metallic bead garland which had been cut into 8 inch or so pieces and hung on the tree. The way they hung them, the top was draped over to form the crook of a candy cane. They were all over the tree. It was so pretty,

I wanted to share this, I didn't have my camera with me. The garlands I am talking about are the ones that look like shiny small Mardi Gras beads for the Christmas tree.

Oooo, Robyn, this is great! We just found 50 metres of the very thing you are posting about in a charity shop, a bargain too good to pass up at £1.50 ($2.32USD current exchange); I am going to use some of it in the door wreath but it isn't quite right to use for garlanding the teeny live tree we are using for our Christmas tree this year.

But if I cut it into snippits and drape the snippits, it will look great, thank-you for this timely post!

Excellent description, btw, when I saw the canister in the charity shop I laughed to my husband that it looks like Mardi Gras beads:)

So I'm assuming that after you cut the bead string to size you would have to re-knot it so the beads don't fall off? Sounds really pretty. Can you explain further if you would have to knot the string again after cutting them to the 8". Thank you. Kathy

In answer to the question above from chef4u about reknotting the ends of the beads, these types of beads do not move along on the strings, but instead, they remain the same when you cut them. I will go and get a photo so you can see what I mean. That is a very good question!

I find some of them in the birthday party isle in the store, the ones that the kids put on their necks. These are the ones I have been using but I only get the color ones that are Christmas colored like silver, green, red, etc.

I will put a pic on here as soon as my camera gets through charging.

Blessings, Robyn
