I was given a lot of circular needlepoint canvas shapes and found this quick and simple ornament to make.
Supplies:
- green yarn
- red yarn
- needle with large eye
- scissors
- plastic canvas circles
Steps:
- Cut center out of two circles. How much to cut out depends on the size of the circle and the size of the wreath.
- Using the green yarn, thread the needle. Starting on the outer row, use the continental stitch (going from one square to the square on the next row, diagonally) and go all the way around the circle, row by row, until complete. Repeat the process on the second circle.
- Using the red yarn, thread the needle. Make French knots for holly berries in groups of three around the wreath, leaving space at the top for a bow. Insert the needle at the top of the wreath and pull yarn through to the top. Tie a bow.
- Attach the front of the wreath to the back on both the outer edges and the inner circle using a whipstitch. Add a piece of green yarn to the top for hanging.
