Silver Post Medal for All Time! 408 Posts Christmas is a time for family fun and building new memories. Here is a quick Christmas card that you and the kids can make together.
Total Time: 15 minutes, drying time excluded
Yield: one Christmas card
Supplies:
- 8.2 x 6 in leaf green cardstock
- 5.3 x 3.6 in cream colored handmade tissue paper
- sheet of ordinary white printer paper
- one small gold star
- food coloring: red; blue and green
- Plaid Royal Coat Dimensional Magic
- Rolkem gold dusting powder
- quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
- salt
- paintbrush
- standard scissors
- pencil
- ruler
Steps:
- Draw a light pencil frame sized 4.6" x 3.3" on the printer paper. Draw a pencil squiggle Christmas tree inside the frame. Use the Plaid Royal Coat Dimensional Magic to draw over the pencil tree. Allow to dry for at least two hours and then cut out along the pencil frame.
- Dilute the food coloring with water ~ the amount of water used will have an effect of the depth of color you will see when painting. Apply different colors to the piece of paper with the tree, allowing the colors to interflow. While the food coloring is still wet, add salt to some painted areas around the tree, and let it dry thoroughly.
- Remove the salt by rubbing lightly over the paint with your finger.
- Score the 8.2" x 6" leaf green cardstock to create a card sized 6" x 4.1". With the fold at the left, centre and glue the handmade tissue paper to the front of the card.
- Glue the food colored piece of paper to the front of the card. Tip: Add glue to all areas of the paper to glue it down completely, and to help stretch the paper again.
- Use a dry paintbrush and the gold dusting powder to add a gold shimmer to the card, and glue the gold star to the top of the tree.
