I am a grandparent with very little income. I have 2 grandkids, boys 4 and 7. is there any place that helps grandparents get gifts? It breaks my heart not to be able to get them anything.

Are you raising these kids or just a grandparent that wants to get them something. I have never heard of organizations that help non-custodial grandparents with gifts for grandkids. I am 74 and on a fixed income, retirement SS, less than $700.0 a month, and I buy gifts for 10 people with a limit of $20.00 each and if I find something that somebody will like that is on sale, it is still counted as a $20.00 item. I start shopping in January and have been done for about six months. There is no reason why people can't start shopping early in the year. You can get some nice stuff in the dollar stores and even in thrift stores. Kids don't need designer things, or the expensive toys and electronics.
I am a grandparent I was in a semi-accident with my husband I have no income coming in and have not gotten a settlement probably won't for another 6 months at the soonest. So no have not gotten Christmas shopping done I am so glad that you have your shopping done my husband wrecked in March 2022 every penny we had was spent within 4 months then he left I don't have anything coming in. I can't work because My doctor won't release me. So just because you are done you need to remember circumstances are different and if you were able to spend 20 per then you must get food stamps and rent help. I have maxed out every credit card I have trying to survive.
Im with you! Thrift stores or dollar stores sound good in theory except when youre flat broke! I have many severe health conditions that prevent me from working, and my disability claim is in the middle of getting a decision! Whatever rare money I do have, goes for necessities like soap,or toilet paper! I feel like an absolute slug not being able to get my grandkids anything for Christmas this year, and people like the above poster saying everyone should be able to do it hasnt lived my life,or yours, and that just makes me feel lower than low!
I agree with you. You never know what someone's going through.
I am so impressed I am also a grandparent of two a 15 year old and a 3 year old. Just became a widow .. its hard 58 years old was recently laid off because of the depression . Will have to move but just wanted to tell you I know how wonderful it is to be a Na Na . God bless
Well I'm very happy someone is able to afford a Christmas, PLUS afford groceries, PLUS afford to pay whatever utility bill and rent/mortgage you have to pay (whatever utilities you have) and still have enough out of only $700 per month to buy gifts per family member, and at $20 cap per person? ESPECIALLY with the economy we are all going through as we speak? That's just a Christmas Miracle, if I do say so myself! However, not everyone lives in your neck of the Mandella Effect. This year, compared to last, has become the worst yet financially for more people than I can shake a stick at, that's for sure! I find myself trying to explain the harder times ahead to my wee little grandchildren, in the hopes of preparing them mentally the challenges they will face.
Again, I am happy to hear someone is as blessed as you are to be able to provide your grandbabies such an amazing Christmas as you will surely give them. And they will be happier than Oliver Twist on Christmas Day. When the parents can't or won't do it, that's what the Grandparents have to do.
Back on topic, if anyone can find a program of any sort that will help Grandparents like us, PLEASE fill us in asap. Direct us ASAP! We really need the help.
I can only say, I am proud of you for not giving up! For doing your best!!! I wish everyone could think, before speaking. Unfortunately, that's never going to happen, until the good Lord comes. I with all my heart wish I could help you with some gifts... I am in a similar situation. Accept I have severe RA and am alone, no spouse, no live in boyfriend, nobody...
