Popsicle Stick Sled - red sled with wreath and tree decorations, hanging on the Christmas tree Here is a family holiday fun project. It is easily made using Popsicle sticks, hot glue, and craft paints. You can use a variety of colors and embellishments. Here's how!

Supplies:

6 to 8 Popsicle sticks (small & larger)
hot glue gun
craft paints
ribbon
embellishments
paint brushes

Steps:

Lay out two longer sticks and 6 smaller sticks for each sled.

Place a smaller stick down, put a drop of glue on both ends of the small stick. Take a longer stick and glue onto both ends of the smaller stick. Give it a second to dry.

With 5 smaller sticks, glue together side to side, as shown. They are set with a curve.

Take your first set of sticks and turn right side up. Then place 5 piece section down toward the base of the sled and glue in place. Allow to dry.

Paint and allow to dry.

Add embellishments and a ribbon or string for hanging.

Hi all, I tried this project and if anyone could suggest a better method of gluing with hot glue cleanly that would be a plus!! I came away with frustrated burnt fingers. The gluing leaves a lot to be desired. I would like to have so much glue to clean up! It is a challenge to apply a thin line of glue to the very thin edge of the Popsicle. I have yet to do this project w my students because of the gluing! Another thing...with the glue oozing on to other areas the paint is hard to cover it. All suggestions welcome. It is a cute project.

You could use wood glue! no heat and you can clean up the access. It's a little more money,but safer for kids and no burning!
