Silver Post Medal for All Time! 408 Posts Christmas is a time of sharing and having fun together as a family. Here is an activity that you and the kids can do together. Make a few of these reindeer candy boxes, and let the kids give them to their friends or their favorite teachers. A cute way of spreading festive joy without leaving the budget in a mess.
Total Time: 20 minutes
Yield: one candy box
Supplies:
- provided pattern sheet for the ears
- 2.5 in high brown plastic flower pot
- A6 size of brown shimmer cardstock
- two long red pipe cleaners
- pair of 15mm yellow wiggle eyes
- 15mm red pompom
- small cellophane bag
- mini marshmallows
- 0.1 in wide golden metallic ribbon
- Artline 210 fineliner black pen
- red and brown felt tip pens
- standard scissors
- quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
Steps:
- Glue the two wiggle eyes to the pot.
- Glue the red pompom below the eyes ~ this will be the nose.
- Use the black pen to draw a mouth and allow to dry thoroughly.
- Trace and cut two ears from the brown shimmer cardstock.
- Color the inside of the ears with the red felt-tip pen, and add some shadows to the ears with the brown felt-tip pen.
- Make a fold in the one tip of each ear and then glue the ears to the pot.
- Cut two pieces, each with a length of 4" from the one pipe cleaner. From the second pipe cleaner cut two pieces, each with a length of 3". Twist each shorter piece around a longer piece to make the antlers.
- Glue the antlers to the inside of the pot and bend them slightly.
- Add the marshmallows to the cellophane bag. Tie the ribbon around the bag and make a bow. Cut the top of the bag shorter to make the end result neater.
- Add the bag of candy and voila!
