After Christmas, that's when the sales start from 70-90%. I was incredibly shocked with the amount of selection at my local Target. I was able to stop by today (January 1st) and stock up on Christmas items, all for 90% off. Items that I would normally not splurge on but have always wanted:
I spent $110 and saved over $900. The great thing is that not all the products purchased were totally Christmas themed so I will be able to reuse some items year-round. I have a closet where I stash these, perfect to collect some of the cheaper items like notebooks, pencils, erasers for kids goody bag for next year (if you have kids) as gifts for their classmates.

I used to hit the Hallmark stores the day or two after Christmas and buy their cute ornaments at 40-50% off. However, they got so expensive, that even with the discount it was too much.
I try to make a new one every year, either from a craft kit or a counted cross-stitch. Country Living Magazine has counted cross-stitch patterns available on-line every month, and I've made nearly all their Christmas ones, plus adapted some to be Christmasy.
Now, after 50 years of collecting, making my own, and receiving them as gifts, I've told my husband that we need a taller tree. I have a little tree in the dining room with a bunch of smaller ornaments, and the big tree is loaded down.
