This is a poem I wrote that I hope all will keep in mind this holiday season and every day of the year.
The Mom and Pops are all but spent On any given street in town When people think of spending cash To Wally Marts or Mega Malls Of local folks who so depend So while shopping you may find And keep the local wolves at bay
If we don't support the store next door
I live in Salem, OR and if anyone who sees this can get to the Holiday Market Dec 13-14 you will find soaps, pickled veggies, caps, jewelry, food and ornaments not seen in any big box store. And for those who don't live close to us, find the church and grange and local bazaars to spend your money at. These people need you to keep going.
They soon won't be here anymore
Their revenues can't pay the rent
Their numbers are now falling down
We always seem to make a dash
The dollar bills could fill the walls
On all the money that we spend
It's best to spend with them in mind
November 29th on Saturday
November 29th is National Shop Local Day. Remember they (we) are your neighbors.

Great poem! I wish Thanksgiving was more of a Holiday to be with Family instead of shopping. Same with Black Friday etc... it's out of control.
Thanks. And yes, share that till it's in everyone's mind. I am one of these folks who need some revenue but it's not my sole source of income, so I wrote this for those who depend on us for their livelihood.
