Have you considered a lively game of bingo? I collected lots of inexpensive items throughout the year and used them as prizes for each game. The people can take turns being the Caller of the numbers. Our family had a lot of fun playing Bingo last Christmas! One twist we added was this: the first winner gets to pick a wrapped prize, the next winner can select a wrapped prize OR can choose to take the prie that the first winner selected. Usually there's one or 2 prizes that everyone seems to want! This process seemed to add to the fun.

Have everyone draw a folded piece of paper from a bowl when they come in. On each, put a name of a holiday item..."ornament, Christmas tree, Santa clause", etc. The guest then gets a sheet of paper and pen, and the person who can make the most words out of theirs, wins. Keep the words longer rather than shorter, avoiding words like "star" or "tree". I did this one when I sold Tupperware, but it can be adapted as follows.

Find a mirror the size of some paper mache' or wooden box from Michael's or the dollar tree, or a box you have at home, and put it inside. It needs to be the same size as the inside, and taped or glued to the bottom of the box. Decorate the box as if it were a fancy present, but don't seal the lid.

Have each person think about the box's contents. Give each person a piece of paper and pen, and have them guess what is inside, telling them all "it's the most important present you will ever give anyone". As they look at and handle the box, give each person instructions that when they have given up, they can each look in the box but cannot tell the next person what is inside.

Of course, each person will see their own face, putting into perspective the real purpose of a life long gift and how important we all are to the people we love. And yes, I am putting this one up for a tip.

The last one will keep people chuckling all the way home. As everyone to count how many "d"'s there are in Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer"? When the all have given up as you tell them all they are wrong, you tell them 419.

When they stop asking? ou start to sing (are you ready for this?)De de de de ...De de de de in the tune of the song! It's a hoot. I hope all this helps. Have fun!

This isn't exactly a game, but we did it at a recent Christmas party at church, and it was hilarious!
Do "The 12 Days of Christmas" in teams, each team calling out their chosen day (four calling birds, for example" in the proper point as the group sings the song. It's funny how many people will forget their place, and can cause a lot of good-natured hilarity.

Hi everyone, this Saturday evening (12/13) we are having an adult (don't take that wrong!) Christmas dance party and social. I know there are lots of fun games out there like the letters to Christmas songs all mixed up or music notes only on a sheet and figure out the songs, etc. You get the idea. Does anybody have things like this or other ideas to play for a good clean adult party. Thanks.

Christmas Party Games

We play a fun game to get everyone to know each other. We put a post it note with something Christmasy on it (reindeer, Jesus, snowman, etc.) and then you make the person guess all night what it is by asking questions of others. We did this at a hoedown recently at church and it was great. (12/10/2004)

Christmas Party Games

We just had an office party this last weekend and I came up with the games.

A wonderful game we did was to divide into teams and each team gets "raw materials" like red tissue paper, duct tape, white batting, and black construction paper, and no scissors. Then each team dresses one of their own as Santa, in 5 minutes or so. And you award a prize for the best Santa. It is a hoot. My group of co-workers and spouses loved it.

Another one we did is a balloon stomp. Each person participating blows up a balloon, and ties it to their ankle with a piece of string or yarn. Then everyone tries to break the other peoples' balloons, but guard their own. The last person with a whole balloon wins.

The "I have never game", divide into groups and give each person some tokens or coins or candies. Each person takes turns stating something they have never done, like "I have never had a speeding ticket". Then everyone in the group who "has" done that has to give the speaker one of their tokens. The last person with tokens wins. We used quarters, but you could use pennies or candy or toothpicks. It is very fun, and you can hear some outrageous claims.

A white elephant gift exchange is lots of fun.

Christmas Party Games

We saw a fun thing at a recent concert. They had people from the audience come down to act out "The Twelve Days of Christmas" things like milking, dancing, swimming, laying, etc. were acted out. It was a hoot. Just figure out ahead what action should be done and go for it. (12/10/2004)

Try this site for interesting "paper and pencil" games. I have used the Word Search puzzles
for church and for family because you can use
your own words and they make up the puzzle
for you free. Check the "pull down" menu
in the middle of the page to find the different
kinds of puzzles available. (12/10/2004)

Christmas Party Games

I saw this game played in one of the "Christmas Carol" movies. The leader of the game would start off, "The minister's cat is "..... cat" and the next person in the circle would have to come up with an adjective describing the cat that started with the letter A (for instance "an adventurous cat"). Then the next person in the circle would have to come up with an adjective starting with A.

If they couldn't come up with an adjective starting with A, they would be out of the game. Then the leader would start with the next person, saying "The minister's cat is "...cat" and that next person would have to come up with an adjective starting with the letter B while everybody else is clapping and counting up to 5 seconds which is all the time the player gets to come up with an adjective.

It moves around through the players, moving through the alphabet, eliminating players who aren't fast enough and the game is over when one player is left who is the winner. (It could be changed to more of a Christmas theme by using sentences such as "Santa's beard is a _______ beard" or maybe "The neighbors' Christmas decorations are ______________ decorations.") It looks like a fun, fast-moving game to play. Happy Holidays. (12/10/2004)

Christmas Party Games

A great Christmas game to play when having a houseful of guests is Christmas Charades. This game is the same type of charade game usually played, but you substitute regular things with Christmas things. For example you could use Santa, or tree, but for something more difficult and fun, do lights or cookies. I'm sure that will really make them think. (12/04/2006)
