For all the people that ask for help with gifts at Christmas, here is a little advice. First of all call the HELPLINE! Their number is 211. It is a nationwide clearing house that keeps a list of organizations in each area that provide different kinds of help for people.
Most people that need this type of help also must have a social worker of some kind. That person should be able to give them some advice. Most of the charities have a cut off age of 12 years for gifts for kids. People can also look in their phone books and call the different charities to see if they provide Christmas help. Also talk to your pastor.
Each kid actually only needs one gift. Most families have grandparents and aunts and uncles that will send gifts. The number one idea is we all know Christmas comes every year, so plan ahead.
Start shopping in January and you won't have to worry about Christmas for your kids. I have been done for at least a month. I have a $20.00 limit for each of my adult kids and four grandkids, that range in age from 15-25. If I find a $20.00 item on sale for $10.00-15.00, that is still counted as $20.00. There is a limit of one gift per person.
When my kids were young, we weren't wealthy, but we were comfortable. We only ever gave each kid one gift, knowing that each set of grandparents and the aunts and uncles would be sending gifts too. All together each child got between 10-12 gifts which is more than enough for any kid.

I have a grandson who actually got angry with his father last year, yes, angry! Because his baby brother got more presents than he did. Yet his presents cost so much, the volume had to compensate. His father pays hefty child support in addition to raising baby brother.
