If you are wondering what to give older friends/relatives for the holidays, here is an idea: Consumable gifts are always welcome since seniors do not want to get things that will end up collecting dust or ending up in a yard sale! They usually have enough stuff around the house already. Think of making a basket full of soaps, bath gel, shampoos, consumables such as homemade goods (cookies, gifts in a jar..) or purchased food items (tea, coffee, chocolates..) I've always had great feedback when doing this! :D

STAMPS! Postage stamps are always welcomed, not only by senior citizens but by everyone! I've even started to give them for grab bag gifts. Whatever the amount of the gift is to be I put postage stamps of that value in a package.
Seniors also like to be given a collection of greeting cards so they can have them on hand for occasions instead of worrying about getting out to purchase them.
that's an excellent idea & probably an even more welcomed gift !
Hi Lisa,
Consumables are a GREAT idea. I have found elder's hands don't work as well as they used to. Sometimes you might have to place food in containers that need little strength to open.
This also works for teachers. We especially appreciate home-baked Christmas goodies since we don't have time to bake until school's out. If they can be frozen, so much the better!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your post. I am 61 and am trying to get rid of things instead of accumulating them.
