I would like to know your favorite Christmas TV special and/or movie.
Jan from Cincinnati, OH
By far my favorite is "A Christmas Story". I have always been fascinated with that era when times were simple. And the kids played their roles so genuinely. They really acted like kids rather than small adults as they often appear in films or TV.
We usually watch or have that movie running all day on Christmas Day. It's become our Christmas tradition. (12/06/2006)

Elf, it's very funny and also gives a good message. (12/06/2006)

By far, my favorite is, It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart. What a heartwarming movie! (12/06/2006)

I too have watched "A Christmas Story" for years! I can remember when it first came out back in the mid 1980s and my parents said, "Oh, we should check this out". So now, 20+ years later, like Lisa we have watched it every year. My cousins, aunts and uncles, too can all quote almost every line of the movie. So to all of you fellow Thrifty Fun peeps out there, remember: "You'll shoot your eye out!!!" and don't stick your tongue to any flagpoles :) (12/06/2006)

I am still a kid at heart here, so I really can't pick my favorite, but I watch Rudolph, Frosty, and the Grinch. It is a family tradition here. It doesn't feel like Christmas without them. Enjoy the holidays. (12/06/2006)

My favorite Christmas shows are all of the Rankin/Bass shows, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Frosty, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Year Without a Santa Claus, and Little Drummer Boy. Those are all classics which bring me back to my childhood and the wonder of the Christmas season! (12/06/2006)
The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (both the older cartoon and the Jim Carrey re-make), Charlie Brown, and the Polar Express movie with Tom Hanks is really nice too. (12/06/2006)

It's not necessarily a Christmas movie, "The Bells of St. Mary's" with Bing Crosby. They usually run it at Christmas, tho. I remember watching that with my mom every year. She would let me have potato chips and soda while we watched it. My mom has been gone for almost thirty years, now. I still watch it when the stations run it, only sometimes now it does make the tears flow. I still miss my mom, especially at Christmas. (12/06/2006)

When I was younger (I am 25), I loved Home Alone, silly I know. But now I love watching A Christmas Story also. (12/06/2006)

I have a couple: The Grinch, Elf, and the Santa Clause (the movie) 1 and 2 with Tim Allen. (12/06/2006)

Hands down the very best Christmas movie is "The Bishop's Wife" w/Cary Grant, David Niven, and Loretta Young. When Cary tells the story of the Twenty-third Psalm, it always brings tears to my eyes. If you've never seen it, you are missing a blessing. (12/06/2006)

My favorite is the original "Miracle on 34th Street" starring Natalie Wood, the cutest little movie star ever (in my opinion). The remake cannot hold a candle to it, but it is a great story regardless of which version you watch. (12/06/2006)
By Alice
My all time favorite is "A Christmas Carol". All versions, even the Muppet one! I also love both versions of Miracle on 34th Street. On TV I like "Meet the Santas". (12/06/2006)

The movie I like the best is the 1951 version of Scrooge with Alastair Sim.
I hate and will not watch, Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life. They are great movies if you are 6 years old. (12/07/2006)

My favorite cartoon is "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"! I love a lot of Christmas movies, but I really was touched by "The Christmas Box" with Richard Thomas in it.
Merry CHRISTmas to you all! (12/07/2006)

Here, we like Holiday Inn and Little Women. At age 40 I still melt over Bing Crosby's voice. (12/07/2006)

A few TV Christmas movies my husband and I have watched so far: Crazy for Christmas, Comfort and Joy, Once Upon a Christmas, Twice Upon a Christmas and Mr. St. Nick. They were all worth watching. We also enjoyed The Polar Express, One Magic Christmas, All I want for Christmas 1991, The Christmas Shoes, The Three Godfathers, It's a Wonderful Life, and Jingle All the Way. My all time favorite is The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant. (12/07/2006)

Thank you all for taking time to respond!!
Does anyone have any TV specials they remember as being great Christmas movies? I have one that I remember called "The Story Lady" with Jessica Tandy.

I always get a good laugh with the Griswalds and "Christmas Vacation". It's always funny no matter how many times you've seen it.
Also I love the original Grinch, Charlie Brown, etc.
Merry Christmas everyone! (12/13/2006)

I still love the Grinch cartoon and White Christmas. I love the classics! (12/18/2006)

For me, far and away, a Charlie Brown Christmas is my Yuletide multimedia of choice. The moment I hear those first chords of "Christmastime Is Here," I'm suddenly a tyke back in 1965 again, and I can smell my parents' real Christmas tree, and taste my mom's cookies, struffoli, and fruitcake.
As a Christmas film that's geared for kids, I think the Polar Express is deeply flawed, but for some sick reason, I like it anyway.
And being a Jean Shepherd fan since my age was in single digits, I like A Christmas Story. I remember hearing Shep tell those stories on the radio by the light of the radio dial. (12/01/2008)
