Approximate Time: 30 - 45 minutes

Supplies:

  • large pine cones
  • black spray paint
  • cardboard
  • quilt batting
  • craft glue
  • orange and black construction paper
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • wiggle/google eyes

Instructions:

  1. The day or evening before you plan to make the penguins, spray paint your pine cones black.

  2. Cut a piece of cardboard large enough to hold your upright pine cone(s). Pull pieces of quilt batting apart to "fluff" them and glue them to the surface of the cardboard for snow.

  3. Cut a penguin belly from the quilt batting and glue it to the front of pine cone. Glue the pine cone to the fluff-covered cardboard.

  4. Draw and cut a beak from orange paper and wings from black paper. Glue these in the appropriate places on the pine cone.

  5. Finish your penguin(s) by gluing on wiggle/google eyes.

Your fun winter friend or family is now ready to display.
