Fun with the kids, great for this time of year, but can be used for any holiday or event.
Knead well until it forms a soft ball. You can add a scent like cinnamon if desired. You can use food coloring to color dough before you bake it, or paint it afterward. Line a baking tray with aluminum foil, make the shapes you want (you can roll out and use cookie cutters), put metal paperclip through top of ornament if making hanging type and bake in the oven at 300 degrees F or until hard (about one hour).
Paint or use markers, glitter, etc. to decorate The possibilities are endless. I made these with my grandchildren which they gave as gifts to their parents.
A finishing coat of shellac or clear acrylic will make your salt clay products last longer.
