Snowman Candy Jar

Decorate baby food jar as snowman to hold candy.

Approximate Time: An hour or less

Supplies:

• small baby food jar
• 1 1/2 inch Styrofoam ball

• 6 ounce Styrofoam cup for hat
• small piece of orange pipe cleaner
• scraps of red, white and green felt
• ribbon or plaid material for scarf
• small pompom for hat
• purchased eyes or black buttons
• glue gun

Instructions:

1. Remove lid from jar and use as a guide to cut a circle of red or green felt.

2. Glue circle to top of jar lid.

3. Cut a strip of matching felt to cover outside rim of lid. Glue in place, overlapping ends.

4. To make head sit firmly, sliver off one side of the Styrofoam ball so it is flat on one side. Glue to center of lid.

5. Cut two circles of felt for ear muffs. Glue in place.

6. Position eyes and glue in place.

7. Cut orange pipe cleaner and insert and glue into Styrofoam ball for nose.

8. To make hat, preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Place Styrofoam drinking cup upside down on cookie sheet and place in oven. Watch closely, because it will shrink rapidly! Remove from oven and while still warm, quickly shape the brim of the hat with your fingers. When cool and firm, glue to snowman's head. Glue pompom on crown.

9. Cut three circles of felt (or use pompoms) for buttons. Screw lid onto jar to determine center front, position and glue buttons in place.

10. Cut two arms of white felt and glue to sides of jar.

11. Tie ribbon around neck for scarf.

12. Fill jar with candy.
