What I really like to do is, collect pine cones. Then put them in a low oven, about 225 degrees for 15 minutes or so. Then I dip them in melted candle wax that was left over from candles I burned. I melt them in an old candle jar on the stove in an old pan with water, on low temperature.

I have also pine cone christmas tree decor..My 7 yr old nephew picked around 50 pcs pine cones for counting practice and his mother liked to throw them away afterward ,she is not craft minded one and so I made them like in the photo.Painted them with gold,glue an old christmas ribbons ,gold pearl and a thread.
