MY KIDS ARE ALL GROWN TODAY. ABOUT 20 years ago we visited Santa's Land in Brattleboro, Vermont.
Back then there wasn't a polar express story. However, We took an Amtrack Train ride from 34th Street, New York and arrived in Brattleboro, and from there we took a cab to Santa's Land.

We have pictures of that most enjoyable Christmas trip. It wasn't just a day trip/but an overnight trip one early December weekend.

In Los Angeles' Griffith Park we have the Festival of Lights put on by the Dept. of Water and Power - on I believe Griffith Park Blvd. - toward the L.A. Zoo past the golf course - which is starting at the beginning of December and runs through January - It's first open for walk throughs and later drive throughs - altho it's best to drive through during the week - as the weekends have very long lines.

It's an imaginative holiday display of lights with music. Lots of fun and FREE.

Many Marinas have boat parades for the holidays - Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard, CA has one on 12/13 with all sorts of activities during the day and Santa and Mrs. Claus for photo ops. The parade of decorated boats around the harbor starts after dark. The harbor is always jammed - so be patient about getting out after the parade. (And I believe that the Ventura Harbor, also up there, has its holiday celebration the next week.)
