This craft is a combination of crochet, fiberfill, flex foam, and glitter. I use mine at Christmas as a centerpiece.
Approximate Time about 24 to 36 hours, based on my crafting time
Gauge: 4 sc = 1 inch 3 rows = 1 inch
Finished Size: Approx base size is 12x8 inches and 6 inches tall.
With white yarn ch 17, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end with 3 sc in end ch. Working on opposite side of ch, sc in each ch to end, with 2 sc in end sc. (34 sc). Do not join rnds but mark beg of each rnd.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 14 sc, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 14 sc, 2 sc in each of next 25 sc. (40 sc).
Rnd 3: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 16 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 16 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc. (44 sc).
With white yarn ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join rnds but mark beg of each rnd.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc.)
Rnd 3: * Sc in 1 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around. (18 sc).
Rnd 4: * Sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around (24 sc.)
Rnd 5: * Sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around (30 sc).
Rnd 6: * Sc in 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around. (36 sc).
Rnd 1: With black yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6 sc.) Do not join rnds but mark ends of each rnd.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc).
Rnd 3: * Sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc * around. (18 sc).
Rnd 4: * Sc in first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around (24 sc.)
Rnd 5: * Sc in first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around (30 sc).
Rnd 6: Sc in back loops only this rnd (30 sc).
Rnds 7 - 11: Working in both loops sc even around (30 sc).
Rnd 12: Brim: Working in front loop only for this rnd, sl st in first sc, ch 3, 1 dc in same sc, 2 dc in each sc around. (60 dc). Join with sl st in top of ch 3. End off black. Weave in yarn ends.
With white, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc). Do not join rnds but mark end of rnds.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in 1st sc, 2 hdc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc, 2 hdc next sc, 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. (12 sts). End off leaving a length of yarn for sewing. Sew to top front of hat. Stuff hat lightly with fiberfill and with black yarn sew at an angle on head of snowman.
With orange yarn, ch 2, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook (3 sc).
Rnd 2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc (4 sc).
Rnd 3: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc (5 sc.)
Rnd 4: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 4 sc (6 sc).
Rnds 5 - 8: sc even around on 6 sc, at end of rnd 8 sl st in next sc. Fasten off leaving length of yarn for sewing. Use a small amount of stuffing and sew to middle of face.
Using black yarn embroider face as shown.
With blue yarn ch 91, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. End off. Cut 4 lengths of yarn for fringe. Put two pieces on each end and trim to length desired. Tie around Snowman's neck.
(make 2) With blue yarn ch 6, sc in each ch across, ch 1, turn. (5 sc.)
Row 2: Sc in each sc across (5 sc), ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in first sc, sl st in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, ch 1, turn.
Rows 4 and 5: Sc in 3 sc, ch 1, and turn.
Row 6: Skip first sc, sc last 2 sc tog. End off leaving a length of yarn for sewing. Sew to base as shown.
Glue base of snowman to sheet of Creative Hands "Flexi foam". Allow to dry thoroughly. This keeps the base from curling up around the edges. When dry trim foam. spread a small amount of Elmer's Glue around top white part of base. Sprinkle on white glitter. When dry, shake off excess glitter.
