Gift For The "Impossible To Shop For" Person

The following is a great gift for anyone but especially for that impossible-to-shop-for person.

Buy a big, cheap basket from a thrift shop and fill it up with food goodies, foods and snacks you know they like or can eat. Use festive tissue for filler and wrap up the basket with cellophane. And *presto*, perfect gift that is sure to please.

You can have different themed baskets, for instance, a movie night basket, with movie-type food goodies (e.g., microwaveable popcorn, Raisinettes, Milk Duds, etc.) and a couple of DVDs or VHSs (best to buy oldie but goodie movies -- less likely that they have them already in their library). Or a wine and cheese themed basket, with a wine bottle smack in the middle and all different cheeses and crackers surrounding it.

I am a great believer in giving consumable gifts, as you can't possibly know other people's taste in most things, so making up a hamper is a great suggestion.

Look for long-dated items (tins of cooked meat and fish seem to last about five years!) and perhaps pop one special personal gift in the middle, like a book token or half bottle of favourite wine.
