I am looking for some good Christmas recipes for me and my daughter to make this year. We both are really into cooking and this is something I never did with my mom as a child. I am looking for any cookie, candy, and bars recipes or anything you've got. Thank you for your time.

Sugar Cookies (Company's Coming)
Ingredients :
3/4 cup butter or hard margarine softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 lrg egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 tsp cardamom optional
1/4 tsp salt
Cream butter and sugar in large bowl. Add egg and vanilla. Beat. Mix remaining ingredients in separate bowl. Stir into batter. Bake on greased cookie sheet in 350F (175C) oven for about 10 minutes. Cool. Decorate.
Makes 7 dozen cookies
Variation: For plain sugar cookies, sprinkle with granulated sugar before baking.
Variation: For decorated sugar cookies, sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles before baking or decorate baked cookies with icing.
Diane Says: Here is one recipe I make at every holiday. The kids have fun making these.
Yield: 7 dozen
Notes: Have fun with the kids cutting out different shapes. We make these for every holiday with cookies cutouts.
I love this because you just break the cookie slab into pieces.
Pecan-Chocolate Chip Cookie Brittle Recipe
Here's another free sample recipe from the Southern Living party. Pecans - chocolate - coconut...nope, can't go wrong with that combo! :-)
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup butter, melted and cooled slightly
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate mini-morsels
1 cup pecan pieces, toasted (see note)
1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut, toasted (see note)
Directions
Combine first 4 ingredients; set aside. Stir together butter and next 3 ingredients in a large bowl; add flour mixture, stirring until smooth. Stir in chocolate morsels, pecans, and coconut. (Dough will look crumbly.) Press dough evenly into a lightly greased 17" x 11" jelly-roll pan, pressing almost to edges. Bake at 350° for 19 minutes or until lightly browned and cookie "slab" seems crisp. Cool completely in pan. Break cookie into pieces.
Note: You can toast pecan pieces and coconut in the same pan at 350° for 8 minutes.
Personal Notes: 18 minutes is enough. I used parchment paper on pan. I do not toast the pecans and coconut.

I love turtle pretzels: a pretzel rod dipped in melted caramel, then dipped in chocolate and rolled in nuts. (12/08/2006)

This is for Diane and anyone else who likes fruit cake, but doesn't want all the fuss of chopping fruit, etc. Boxes of Robin Hood Fruitcake, sold in most grocery stores, it is excellent, a light fruit cake. There is lots of fruit in it too, and; easy to make from the mix. Enjoy. (12/08/2006)

A fun, easy recipe I like to make is no-bake wreaths. You make basic Rice Krispie treats, but substitute corn flakes for the Rice Krispies and add green food coloring to the mix. Then just form cookie-sized circles from it and add red hots or other candies for holly or bows. They look festive, are easy to make, and they're yummy. (12/09/2006)

You didn't specify cookie, cake, or candy. Here's a great candy/cookie.
Skillet Cookie's
In a large saucepan over low heat melt butter; add sugar, eggs and dates.
Stir constantly until sugar is dissolved and mixture is thick.
Remove from heat, stir in vanilla; add Rice Krispies and nuts.
Shape into small balls and roll in coconut.
Cool.

Poor Man's Turtle is a simple candy to make :
Place miniature pretzels on a cookie sheet. Place a Rolo candy (individual piece) on the center of each pretzel. Place the cookie sheet of prepared pretzels in a 200 degree (F) oven for almost 2 minutes, until the candy starts to "cave in" while melting. Remove from oven and push a pecan halve into each Rolo.
