I wanted to purchase my husband some smaller gifts for his stocking on our first Christmas together, but quickly didn't see the point of useless little gadgets/knick knacks that would ultimately end up sitting in storage somewhere. So I bought him groceries! I hit the local store and picked up his brands of saline solution, hair gel, shave gel, chap stick, shampoo, deodorant, candy, etc.

Hi Angela, I totally agree with your thinking :) I've decided too that it's more practical to buy those at home useful items that they can use and won't create clutter later on, plus saves money in the long run...maybe even purchasing a slightly dearer brand than normal as a special xmas treat...at least it will be used :) This year i've bought new razors, satin boxers, shower gels and body sprays etc....plus i'll get some extra treats too...maybe some books and cd's...after all it's the thought that counts!
Every year my husband expects some gifts that have become "tradition". Bath soap, funny socks (that he wears when all the regular white ones are dirty), pajamas and one practical, but goofy, gift. He doesn't know it, but this year it's a bag of 1000 Q-tips (generic) that I bought at Big Lots for 99 cents.
